EMG/NCS
An Electromyogram (EMG) measures the electrical impulses of muscles at rest and during contraction.
Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) measure nerve conduction velocity, how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical signals. Nerve and muscle disorders cause the muscles to react in abnormal ways. Central Florida Pain and Rehab Clinic offers this service to help detect the presence, location and extent of diseases that damage muscle tissue or nerves.
We usually do EMG/NCS test together to give a more complete information.

TRIGGER POINT INJECTION
Local trauma to muscles can cause tenderness and increased irritability causing muscle spasms and referred pain. This can be helped with a local injection of anesthetic, steroids or sarapin to break the spasms and pain.
PERIPHERAL JOINT INJECTIONS

Any articulation (joint) can get inflamed due to injury or arthritis. A local injection, usually steroid can help relieve that pain and inflammation.

VISCOSUPPLEMENTATION
Osteoarthritis can cause inflammation or chronic pain from cartilage deterioration. When other treatment fails to relieve the symptoms, hyaluronic acid (such as synvisc) is injected into the joint to help give cushion and lubricate the joint to prevent friction and help relieve pain.

REGENERATION INJECTION THERAPY
Tendons, joints and ligaments can all cause chronic pain . Most of these structures do not have good circulation, consequently a lot of times healing is poor causing chronic pain and disability. There are newer treatments to help w/o the side effects of current treatment options, such as Wharton's Jelly . Wharton’s Jelly has unique characteristics that enhance structural support in body areas such as ligaments and joints, as well as providing insulation and lubrication to these structures and surrounding areas. Wharton’s Jelly products contain mesenchymal stem cells, growth factors, and other essential molecules necessary for regeneration. They consist of high levels of extracellular matrix components; mainly collagen, hyaluronic acid and proteoglycans. Additionally, their vast reservoir of many peptide growth factors are essential for healing and regrowth.

BOTOX INJECTIONS FOR PAIN

This is a toxin from a bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum . It blocks nerve signals to the muscles causing weakness or "paralysis" of muscles. It has been found to be effective in refractory cases of painful muscle spasms and headaches. The relief lasts 3-6 month and can be repeated if necessary.

C-TRAC DEVICE
Have you been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? This condition typically causes pain, weakness, numbness and tingling in the hands as a result of irritation of the median nerve at the wrist. CTRAC is a carpal ligament stretching device designed to open the carpal tunnel and provide more space for the median nerve. Taking the pressure off the nerve quickly decreases the symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) . This device is easy to use and very effective non-surgical treatment for CTS.

HOMEOPATHIC INJECTION THERAPY
Another solution for chronic muscle or joint pain is a homeopathic-complex remedy made from extracts of plants and minerals. These remedies have been shown to be very effective in relieving pain from multiple conditions without any long-term side effects. These injections are a good alternative for patients that can not tolerate steroids (cortisone) injections. They are typically performed in a series of 3-4 weekly treatments to provide long-term pain relief.

IMPLANTABLE DEVICES

Chronic pain can have devastating consequences if not properly treated. There are alternatives for patients who have not found a treatment to control their pain. One such treatment is a neurostimulator .

This consists of a small device implanted under the skin. It works by sending mild electrical impulses to the epidural space near the spine. These impulses replace pain with a tingling sensation. It can relieve the pain from multiple peripheral nerve and spine conditions.

If you are not a candidate for a neurostimulator, a drug pump (intrathecal drug delivery systems) is another option. The pump delivers pain medication to the fluid-filled area surrounding the spinal cord (called the intrathecal space). Because pain medication goes directly to the pain receptors near the spine (instead of going through your circulatory system), a drug pump offers significant pain control using a small fraction of the dose that oral medication requires.

Their approach is both professional and sympathetic, which seems to be a hard mix to find in Florida's current legislative environment. They have put good-faith-effort into (and resolved) every issue that's come up over the year-and-a-half I've been in their care." ~ E. Maukonen
